Lincoln City striker Simon Yeo has revealed why he is leaving the club to play in New Zealand after 3 years at Sincil Bank. Speaking to Radio Lincolnshire minutes after the League 2 Playoff Final defeat to Southend, Yeo revealed he has rejected the chance to stay with the Imps.
Yeo, who was obviously disappointed following the Imps 3rd playoff campaign in a row prove, like the others, unsuccessful, was asked "Will you be with the Imps next season" and responded with.
"Unfortunatly not, I'm moving abroad as a few people know. I wish Lincoln City all the best next season and I will be keeping in touch"
"I'm playing for a team called Auckland Knights, they are from New Zealand and play in the Australian A League."
Simon Yeo joined from Hyde United 3 years ago after scoring 100 goals in 4 seasons for the Unibond side. After initially setting Sincil Bank alight, Yeo hit a patchy form which saw him go from September 2002 to May 2003 without scoring. He did however, score the goal that sent the Imps into the playoffs in 2002/3 and scored 3 goals in the semi final win over Scunthorpe.
2003/4 was a fruitful campaign for Yeo as he scored 13 goals but this season proved a great one for the striker who scored 23 goals in all competitions.
We, at theimps.tk wish Simon all the best in New Zealand and would like to take this oppurtunity to thank Yeo for 3 years good service for the Imps and he is always welcome at Sincil Bank.
