Macclesfield boss, Brian Horton has said all the pressure is on Lincoln in the upcoming semi finals. The Silkmen come to Sincil Bank on Saturday just 4 weeks after being well beaten 2-0 at Sincil Bank in the first leg of the playoffs and Horton is in a confident mood.
Horton speaking out on Macclesfield official site praised the achievement of the Silkmen's first ever playoffs "It has been a fantastic achievement by everyone at the football club,"
"People are saying that we have limped over the line a bit but there are enough clubs who haven't limped over. Southend haven't won a game since they won here, Darlington beat us convincingly up there and they just missed out. Some good sides haven't made it. And whether we've limped over or not it's still a fantastic achievement to be finishing fifth in the league."
It's ironic really that Horton said that bit about Southend because Lincoln haven't won, or even scored since the 2-0 win over the Silkmen just over 3 weeks ago.
He went on to add: "We've got Lincoln now. Keith Alexander has done a fantastic job with them, this is the third time they've been in the play-offs and he has done a great job. We'll give it all we've got but I think it will see a bit of pressure off the players to be honest."
The Silkmen beat Lincoln at Moss Rose 2-1 in December before losing to Richard Butcher and Francis Green goals recently. A repeat of those scorelines would see the Imps make their 2nd playoff final in 3 years.
