This Saturday sees the Imps face suprise promotion contenders Macclesfield Town but what is the history? City have won 7 of the 16 meetings between the 2 clubs with Macclesfield taking maximum points 3 times only scoring 13 goals in the process.

As you can see below, the first game came way back in the FA Cup first round in 1968. Both teams went up to Division 2 in 1997/8 with Macclesfield attaining an impressive unbeaten home record including a controversial 1-0 win over the Imps which involved a 2-2 man brawl. The following season the two teams were both relegated back to Division 3. 2 draws in the first season back were followed by Macclesfield's only double over the Imps and their only win at Sincil Bank. However, after that, they failed to score in 5 games against the Imps. Last season saw them as one of the best teams to visit Sincil Bank and were unlucky to return to Macclesfield without anything. Earlier this season they secured their first win over City in 4 years with a 2-1 win at Moss Rose.
