Former loan goalkeeper Trevor Carson has spoken to Sunderland's official website about his time at Lincoln. Carson impressed during a two month spell at Sincil Bank that was abruptly brought to an end just hours before City lost 6-0 at home to Rotherham.

Trevor Carson, Sunderland goalkeeper Carson made his debut in the 4-3 win over Stockport, replacing unpopular goalkeeper Joe Anyon. over the next few months he impressed, keeping several clean sheets before then leaving on the eve of a local derby with Rotherham. He promptly popped up at Brentford and was largely a spectactor before returning to Sunderland.

Speaking about his time at Lincoln, Carson had mixed emotions.

"I had a great time at Lincoln and it was a good experience. Things like playing with my name and number on my back made a diference," he told Sunderland's official website. "Lincoln were bottom of the league and people told me I was crazy for going there. But I was just happy to go and play first team football. I've always liked a challenge and that's why I went there. We got well up in the table whilst I was there and it's disappointing to see where there are though, though of course that hasn't just happened because I left."

Towards the end of his time at Sincil Bank, Carson was starting to make a few mistakes in every game, although he was still well liked by City's fans and there was talk at times of him joining on loan again next season, although that now looks unlikely due to his comments about League Two and it's effect on him.

"Everything was going great at the start and I felt invincible, but that I made a bad mistake and I had to deal with it. I always worried about how I would reached but I learned to put it behind me. The Premier League is played at such a high tempo and you can't switch off at all. In League Two the pace is slower and I found myself switching off and getting punished. I now know that you can't do that."
