Despite forcing 14 shots away at Southend United, Lincoln couldn't score to make it 435 minutes without a goal for the Imps. An early Barry Corr goal sealed the game for the hosts and now leaves the Imps with just one point from the last four games going into a difficult period of games.

The Imps gained an early free kick for a foul, but Clark Keltie took it quickly and passed it to Joe Anderson, well I say to Joe Anderson, it was about 10 yards in front of Anderson with an attacker only five yards away. The ball was played out to Hall on the left and he sent in a brilliant cross for Barry Corr to head into the net after just three minutes.

The hosts were applying the pressure but couldn't extend their advantage and the Imps had a chance to equalise after half an hour as Josh O'Keefe shot from 12 yards out, only to see his effort sail over the bar. Another Hall cross saw Blair Sturrock head over for Southend before Timlin hit a free kick just wide of the target. Keltie was booked for a rash tackle on Grant.

Southend ended the half with a substitution, Barry Coor going off after a head injury and being replaced by Nathaniel Jarvis. It had been a half where Southend should have extended their lead to about two or three.

The second half started with the Imps making their own sub early on as Carayol came on for Broughton, who received a good reception throughout the ground after spending a stint of his career at Roots Hall. Carayol was straight into the action as he won a freekick, Jarrett played the set piece in and Ben Hutchinson thundered a header against the crossbar.

Another Jarrett free kick was tipped over by Morris, but a first occured a few seconds later as Joe Anyon was replaced by Paul Musselwhite, the goalkeeping coach making his first team debut after nearly two years with the club, becoming the club's third oldest debutant in history. Hutchinson headed wide from the corner Morris had conceded before the substitution. Soares replaced the lively Hall for the hosts.

Musselwhite saved well at the feet of Evans before Watts poked a shot wide for City. City were piling the pressure but in true Lincoln City style, they were struggling to get any decent efforts on target. Jarrett shot wide from 25 yards following a jinking run before Mohsni and Swaibu got into a scuffle on the edge of the City area. Mohsni appeared to kick out at Swaibu and after a 22 man brawl, Musselwhite was booked for his reaction and Mohsni for the kick out.

Watts had a header cleared off of the line but that was the final chance of the game as City suffered a third defeat in four.
