Boston United's Lincoln supporting chairman has come out and said that he is pleased that his management duo are being linked with the vacant managerial position at Sincil Bank. Paul Hurst and Rob Scott have become very popular in the non-league scene, winning promotion twice in two years with different clubs.

Hurst and Scott initially took up management in January 2009 and in the space of 18 months, had guided both Ilkeston Town and Boston United to glory in the Unibond Premier Division Playoff Final. With Boston now challenging for promotion to the Blue Square Premier, Hurst and Scott have started to be linked to jobs higher up the Football League.

"I'm delighted they have been mentioned because they deserve it. It means they, and the club, are doing well. There would be a problem if they were not being mentioned," David Newton told the Lincolnshire Echo. "I've spoken to both of them this week and we joked about the Lincoln job."

Dave Penney remains the outright favourite for the job, whereas Steve Tilson and the pair of Steve Thompson and Mick Harford are also believed to be firmly in the running, but as mentioned in our look at all the top managerial candidates recently, they tick the most boxes that Bob Dorrian has specified the club will look for.

Bob Dorrian said they were looking for a young manager, up and coming and with a knowledge of the non-league, then again, it was the same specification for the last managerial recruitment drive.....and we ended up with Chris Sutton, who only ticked the "young" part.
