David Graham and Jason Lee are now without clubs after Ilkeston Town was wound up in court on Wednesday afternoon. Both strikers were plying their trade at the Conference North side before the outcome in the courts, where despite considerably smaller debts than some clubs who have escaped being wound up in recent years, the club was folded.

David Graham played for the Imps as recently as two seasons ago, whereas Jason Lee's time with the Imps came back at the beginning of the 1990s. Graham rarely got a chance in the starting line up, whereas Lee gained fame for a rather fruity hair style whilst playing in the Premiership for Nottingham Forest.

Graham was in the middle of his second spell at Ilkeston Town after rejoining from Sheffield FC.

Ilkeston Town are appealing the decision, hoping that the potential sale of a star player would gain them around £20,000 of the £50,000 that they needed. They were also talking to several investors, but the court was unsympathetic to the club's troubles. After a two-minute hearing, Registrar Derrett sealed the club's fate when she said: "I'm sorry, the company is plainly insolvent and I therefore make the final compulsory order".

It is yet another case of a non-league club being wound up, whereas every League club has so far avoided being wound up, regardless of how much debt they were in or how insolvent they are.

The club's final ever League match came in a 0-0 draw with vicious rivals, Eastwood Town.

God £50,000 is a drop in the ocean compared to what some Football League clubs owe!

Always easier to bash the small clubs i suppose.

It stinks!!!

If I remember rightly there last opponents Eastwood Town aren't fairing much better, I reckon it said on radio Lincolnshire they only had 1 sub against the @#$%&.

very very sad news for footy. when clubs like luton,rotherham, and most latey cardiff city can over spend by lots. it's a joke non-league clubs go bust. the FA should start to take care of the lower leagues, portsmouth,sheff wed,cardiff only got saved because league clubs.

what happened with this if you have problems not sorted by start of season you drop 2 leagues? havn't happened to portsmouth,sheff wed or cardiff?

I think the problem is higher up than Luton and Rotherham, haven't Man Utd and Liverpool got debts in the hundreds of millions? Doubt we'll ever see them facing FA rebukes.

Weren't Ilkeston wound up over £50k? Surely Yaya Toure/Adebayor/any other major prem player (delete as appropriate) could have spared half a days wages to help them out.

Why Ilkeston and not Pompey?

Pompey owed a fortune and were given a reprieve!! Ilkeston owed £50k!! A good FA Cup run could have paid that......

Although, any business should be aware of their tax bill and accrue accordingly whether you are Premiership ot Non League. BAsic business principles but a shame all the same.
