Gillingham come down

Gillingham's 3-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers confirmed that the Gills will return to League Two after just one season. They had started the season well with a 5-0 win over a Swindon side who have made the Playoffs, but no away wins all season tells it's own story. They join Wycombe, Southend and Stockport.

Gillingham have been battling the drop for most of the season but went into the final day knowing that a draw would have saved them, a 3-0 defeat left them needing results to go in their favour. For a while it appeared as though they would stay up, but with Tranmere already winning, Exeter's winning goal over Huddersfield meant that the Gills were relegated just twelve months after winning promotion via the Playoffs.

The Playoffs in League Two will see Morecambe face Dagenham and Rotherham will face Aldershot. They are the closest Playoffs in history though as the four teams were only separated by a single point.

Cheltenham Town, Chesterfield, Crewe Alexandra, Gillingham, Hereford United, Lincoln City, Macclesfield Town, Northampton Town, Port Vale, Shrewsbury Town, Southend United, Stevenage Borough, Stockport County, Torquay United and Wycombe Wanderers
