Lincoln enjoyed plenty of possession and time around Shrewsbury Town's area, but you'd be hard pushed to find a clear cut opportunity before Kris Bright showed them how to do it late on, giving Shrewsbury their first home win over the Imps since 2000. Results elsewhere mean that City are near enough safe though.

With injuries plaguing City, Brian Gilmour, Paul Connor and LJL all time with Somma up front, but all of them seemed to fail to do anything other than prohibit Somma from getting a realistic chance.

It could have all been so different as Somma created a chance for himself early on, only to see it cleared off of the line. That was pretty much the only early chance and to be perfectly honest, there weren't any other chances for either team in the first half that were really worth talking about and it appeared to be heading to 0-0 for the second season in a row at New Meadow.

The second half started in pretty much the same sense with the first chance after the break coming from a free kick that Somma hit straight at a defender. Again it wasn't a chance filled game with the majority of the pay being in the midfield.

Substitute John-Lewis shot wide before Somma shot horrendously off target when put through on goal. The hosts certainly weren't out of it though as a Langmead volley was well saved by Burch. It continued to be appearing to be heading for 0-0 but then a Simpson ball from the left was played in and Bright hit home on the volley.

City couldn't manage another chance in the game and if anything, Shrewsbury seemed favourites to score again as Bradshaw's volley was again well saved by Burch.

City dominated the first 25 mins and should have been 3 up the only chance Shrews had in the first 30 mins was a shot that hit the post.

Lennon put clean through one on one and caught in 2 minds (passing it to the keeper) as the previous poster put Curling Lennon effort just wide of the post.

Somma had 2 decent efforts

Lennon couldnt hit a barn door yesterday.He had one really decent effort thought that went just wide of the post.

Thought Saunders played well, Baker and Hone were really excellent too. Somma's movement off the ball is so so poor though but hes a magician with the ball at his feet.

Lennon's pass back to the keeper was woeful and I can't believe the Shrewsbury overhead kick from the edge of the box that hit the post didn't get a mention.

Burch must have tipped at least 3 over the bar or round the post. However, it wasn't particularly exciting until the last 5 minutes when Sutton took Hone off, switching to 3-4-3, and Shrewsbury looked more and more likely to add a second.

Worse thing was that having taken two of my boys to their first football match the eldest insists that he is now a Shrewsbury fan; despite the threat of making him walk home. He even started chanting 'Shrewsbury' in the Lincoln end when they scored. My second son supported Lincoln; but then it is his middle name.

The final insult was on the way home when they both decide to taunt me with the idea of being Man Utd fans. Kids..!

Cherry, i can empathise with you on the kids thing... Every time we loose (which has been too often this season) Rhys says he never wants to watch us again.. He wants to support a team that win like Man Utd or Chelsea.... normally a short sharp slap to the back of the head works wonders... then i go into the emotional black mail of ... the big teams dont appreciate their fans, you'd never get to meet the players, receive presents from the club & players etc.. then if that doenst work i tell him "how do you think Burch would feel if you gave up & didnt talk to him every home game"... thats normally the winner Failing all of the above, lock them in their rooms without food until they admit defeat & sing lincoln songs Ive suffered for 16yrs, he's only done it for 2, he's got a lot to catch up on

My youngest has been a bit "disillusioned" this season but he keeps going and will without doubt be there next season...


We need a decent season as 3@#$%&seasons is getting a bit much

Burch signed both of their programmes before the game (thank you Rob) and even my eldest said Lincoln were rubbish except for the goalkeeper.

As for locking them in their rooms, I'm thinking of locking them in someone else's house, so that I can get some peace; I've just had to spend 20 minutes on a trampoline for God's sake!

To be fair to my eldest, he was born in Shrewsbury, so I would rather he followed them than Manure.

Tough I guess getting your kids to follow Lincoln at the moment with us being so awful just now.
I was lucky/spolit as I started Lincoln in the early 80s but as many of you know I also follow Tottenham as well.
I never had a problem really I cant afford to go and watch them, occasionally see if the playing locally but havent done that for years!
I follow Spurs and watch Lincoln.
Maybe if tell your kids they can go and watch manure etc if they can afford that will soon put 'em off!
As they can get in and see a game at Lincoln.
Maybe you need to move back here Cherry bring 'em to every home game and brainwash 'em, that should work

Here we go again!
