City's game is off and Grimsby take slight advantage

Lincoln City's game at Hereford was postponed and Grimsby took the slight advantage of being gaining another point on the Imps after a 1-1 draw with Morecambe. It was the Mariners' fifth straight draw and they're now just one win away from taking over the Imps, but now City have games in hand. Grimsby dominated long periods of the game and the visitors only managed one shot in the first half. However, Morecambe still play similarly like they did against the Imps and took their chance when it came, however, their lead latest just seven minutes as Grimsby equalised through Sweeney. Grimsby couldn't make any more of their near-twenty shots on goal count.

It's a lucky let-off for City who now have a two point gap over Grimsby and a game in hand. City will accumulate another game in hand in early January as Grimsby will be in League action when the Imps go to Bolton in the FA Cup.

Grimsby are now two points behind the Imps and with two games in three days coming up on Boxing Day and the 28th, one of the sides could easily find themselves well clear of the other by the end of that spell, but City do have favourable fixtures, a home game to Chesterfield (who's away record is identical to City's) and away at Darlington.
