Lincoln City's tendency to be a bit rubbish defensively came back, but the tactics were certainly suspect as well. A 3-1 defeat not only saw Aaron Brown go walk-abouts, but strangely saw Clark bring on strikers, only to have them play in the defence. This just goes to prove City are a bit poor.  

The match started in strange circumstances as Jamie Clark was fouled on the right wing, only for the referee to give Bournemouth a free kick due to Cummings getting injured in the challenge. The Bournemouth fans were quickly calling for the sending off of Rene Hone as the striker appeared to elbow Lee Bradbury, just minutes before Richard Butcher had the game's first chance to come, Richard Butcher shooting wide from 20 yards.

Bournemouth finally entered the City half for the first time in the seventh minute and made it count as Lee Bradbury swung the ball into the box and Brett Pitman battered home a volleyed effort, giving Bournemouth a lead against the general run of play so far.

The game continued slowly but it didn't take long for the lead to be extended, but this time it certainly didn't have the venom of the first, infact it was a poor goal defensively all around as Igoe was able to just slot it home from the edge of the area with the side of his foot, not one City outfield player attempting to get to it.

The Imps quickly got back into the game as Hughton's cross was flicked on by Rene Howe, it fell to Fagan and the Irishman turned and shot, seeing the ball go across the face of the goal and in at the far post. Rene Howe wasted a quickfire opportunity to make it 2-2, shooting well wide from 20 yards.

Pitman hit the ball over from a near one-on-one before the referee blew for half time.

City came out with the desire to pull level pretty quickly, but no-one could really get a shot in on goal, although we did have rejected appeals for a penalty for handball. It didn't take long though for Bournemouth to extend their lead thanks to yet more suspect defending. Liam Feeney broke down the left and continued to easily keep Hughton in his pocket, sending in a cross and the completely unmarked Igoe (the only player anywhere near the box) volleyed home for a fantastic goal.

John-Lewis characteristically shot wide of the target before being replaced by Hutchinson but the second half was a pretty chance-free half, City only looked like scoring again as Aaron Brown hit a ball against the under side of the bar, bounced on the line and then out.
