Mark Cooper has expressed that he has been flattered by being linked to the management seat at Sincil Bank. Cooper, manager at Kettering Town, knows all about Lincoln City, but the Poppies' Chairman appears unlikely to want his manager to move after he took yet another unprofessional swipe at City.

Mark Cooper has manager at Rockingham Road for several years, winning promotion to the Blue Square Premier last season, they were top when they played City in the FA Cup First Round, but a bad run of form and a lot of games in a short space of time towards the end of the season ended their challenge.

When asked about the vacancy, Cooper told the BBC "It's always nice to be linked with jobs, especially a club in the League. Lincoln have a good history in the game and we know from playing them last season what a big club they are."

However, the main stumbling block is likely to be Inram Laddak. Kettering's Chairman posted several unprofessional comments on their official website last season with regards to the allegations of racism, and has continued his unprofessionalism with yet another swipe at City.

"Lincoln have not made any approach (to the club) for Mark Cooper and he has not asked for permission to speak to Lincoln. If Lincoln are interested, they know my number so there is no need for this courtship via the BBC and NLP. But then again, we know how they love talking about Kettering to the media," he put in a statement on Kettering's official website.

Gary Brabin is still the heavy favourite to become City manager, but Cooper certainly appears to be interested.

any manager would be quite flattered to have interest in them, just goes to show he is doing something right.

As Northampton have now sacked their manager (and they have previously shown an interest in him) dont be surprised if thats where he turns up. Interesting coincidence that they sack Gray just as we are evidently linked with Cooper

I am 99.9% sure he has not said a word.....his agent would have said these words.

Just a ploy to put himself in the shop window......adriang, you are spot on with your comments - expect him to be at Northampton before we have even interviewed our candidates.

Also the vice Chairman - Dorrians (I think) has said they have drawn up a shortlist of 8 names - all of which are currently out of work!! So Cooper, Calderwood, Fallon, Laslo all out of the picture. He has stated they will not pay compo. Also only 6 of the 8 fit into their ideal credentials!!! So why have the other 2??
