In four meetings against Darlington during his near two years at Sincil Bank, Peter Jackson failed to find a Lincoln side that scored in their four defeats, but Simon Clark and Tom Spall masterminded a confident 3-0 win, the first win against Darlington at Sincil Bank in 10 years.

City were off to a lightning start and were ahead within two minutes of the kick off. Rene Howe had swung and missed at a cross in the opening minute, but a Cian Hughton cross was hit home by Howe little over a minute later for the first first-half goal that City have scored so far this season. It brought the crowd into joy, with those who weren't fans of Jackson feeling even more justified in their opinions.

Unlike City sides in recent years, the Imps certainly didn't sit on the lead and Lenell John-Lewis and Jamie Clarke were both determined to prove points as both saw long range efforts only just fail to make it into the net. LJL tried his luck from a long range effort, only for it to be well saved.

Penalty claims were ignored as Clarke went down under the challenge of Bower but the game was coming to an end for Paul Connor, the striker struggling from an injury gained just after the 20 minute mark was forced off, giving Fagan a chance to impress.

Howe headed a Butcher ball into the side netting. Darlington's first foray into City's half was well controlled by Kovacs before City made it 2-0 as Howe went up for a header with Knight, the goalkeeper dropping the ball and leaving Howe with a tap in from a few feet. City already looked out of sight against a poor Darlington side.

Cook was replaced by Smith following an injury, but the last chance before half time fell City's way and Clarke hit it low at Knight, saved.

A rare Darlington attack started the second half but Kovacs had no trouble sweeping up the danger and it wasn't long before it was 3-0. LJL got past his marker and played in Fagan, the Irishman sweeping the ball across Knight and seeing it go in off of the post.

With the match already over after under an hour, the game slowed down and Darlington have one or two efforts on goal but neither really troubled the net. Fagan and Howe both wasted headers and the second half went by with City dominating but not getting many more opportunities in.

Howe had a chance to seal his hatrick when he was set free, turned inside his marker, only to see his effort go straight at Knight. That was the final action of a game that City were well deserving winners.

Dont lets get carried away,Darlington are pathetic and we did not play that well.Where was Jamie Clark the second half?
Our midfield is not good enough,no creativity.Whoever the new manager is,he is going to have to do a lot of hard work.We will struggle against the better teams if we carry on like this.

well today was certainly worth the entrance fee, dominant from start to finish.
would we have won under peter jackson, who knows as darlo were shocking today real toss they were. have lost an awful lot of players and that was evident today.
need to try and build on this at bournemouth which is a tough place to go
