Imps on verge of 20 year first

A victory at Accrington Stanley tomorrow will see City record their first record of two wins from two League games since the beginning of the 1989/90 season. Last week's win against Barnet could easily be followed against the relegation favourites.

The last time City won their first two League games of the season actually saw us win the first four games of the season, beating Scunthorpe, Aldershot, Doncaster Rovers and Torquay. Since then it's been a far different story.

FIRST TWO FIXTURES SEASON-BY-SEASON

1990/1 - A draw and a win from opening two games

1991/2 - Beat Cardiff 2-1 but lost 2-0 to Rotherham

1992/3 - Lost against Colchester and York City

1993/4 - Lost to Colchester, drew against Darlington

1994/5 - Beat Exeter but lost to Walsall

1995/6 - Won at Preston but lost to Gillingham

1996/7 - Lost at Torquay and drew to Orient

1997/8 - Lost at Chester City, beat Shrewsbury Town

1998/9 - Lost at Bournemouth, beat Wigan at home

1999/2000 - Beat Rotherham United, drew at Hull City

2000/1 - Lost to Hartlepool, drew with Halifax

2001/2 - Lost to Halifax, drew at Rushden

2002/3 - Drew at Kidderminster, beat Rochdale

2003/4 - Lost to Oxford United and Torquay United

2004/5 - Beat Shrewsbury Town, drew to Torquay

2005/6 - Drew with Northampton and Chester

2006/7 - Drew with Notts County and beat Hereford

2007/8 - Lost to Shrewsbury, beat Mansfield

2008/9 - Lost to Rotherham and Dagenham.

Didn't we go quite a few games unbeaten at the start of the 2006/7 season?
20 years ago blimey!
That was the season I had left school in the summer and started work!
I'm getting old!
