Moses Swaibu joined the Imps in 2009 under controverisal circumstances from Bromley, and despite a quite poor performance on his debut, has gone on to become a brilliant defender for City and a young man who has a brilliant future ahead of him.
Signed From : Bromley FC
Debut : Morecambe 1 Lincoln City 1 (11th February 2009)
Moses Swaibu joined City from Bromley FC during the 2008/9 season, innocent enough you would have thought. However, the Imps were threatened with legal action by the non-League side after they claimed City had made an illegal approach for the defender. They claim that City never gave them the required notice period, but all of that turned out to be a load of old rubbish and the youngster travelled up with the squad to Morecambe.
His debut was far from re-assuring though as he was thrown straight into the first team and struggled for most of the match, often seeing his marker lose him, or making misplaced passes. It wasn't the best of starts to his City career.
It was a few weeks before he appeared in the first team again but his quality started shining through and he formed an excellent partnership with Janos Kovacs, the pair barely conceding in the finale to the 2008/9 season.
Swaibu will be fighting it out with Hone and Kovacs for a centre-back space this season, a nice problem to have as all three are fairly decent.
