Failed to shine at Carlise reserves last season

Of course he could turn out to be a decent striker, But the relaity is probably not.

I tend to judge others opinions more so than ours and lets face it Hamilton, United, Huddersfield and Carlisle don't think he's upto scratch and no-one wanted him in the UK.

I for one am sick of Jackson's hype, where on earth has the money gone,Fagan and possisbly Evans are going to be on low wages and it would appear we cannot attract proven players on the wages we offer, even though perhaps our 5 biggest earners have gone, Beevers, Horsefield, freck, Sinclair and Nguessan.

The Huddersfield fans rated him.
Give the bloke a chance.
Got to the better than Wright, Gall, Graham and Horsefield who got a massive 4 goals between them last season.

let the guy have a chance before anyone jumps to conclusions, you can't base anything on a player unless you'v seem them play!

He must have something about him Jacko wouldn't of given him a 2 year contract otherwise would he?
None of us have seen him play have we?
He got 4 goals in 2 games at Huddeersfield on trial.
He can't be that bad can he?
Rendell would be an equal risk and cost £100,000 as well.

plus going on from ur latter comments, those 5 biggest earners, Horsfield simply wasn't good enough, Beevers didnt want to wear the shirt, Nguessan wasnt interested towards the end of the season and he didn't want to wear the shirt either, id rather get players in who have a bit of fight and passion about them. Sounds old fashioned, but thats what i believe will get us out of this league, although im not that old fashioned as im 15... lol

This makes interesting reading.

It lists ex-Man United Academy players who have gone on to have a career elsewhere, despite being released at an early stage by Man U. There are quite a number of names you may recognise. They are not all big names, some are just reasonable players at our level or a Division or two up. Obviously there are failures too.

The Foster interview on the OS is good too. Fagan is the first of Hoddle's 'boys' to make it back into the league and he seems to be thought of very highly. Iffy even went out and watched him in Spain, so the Management Team should know more than us and I think the 2 year deal is a reflectoin of that.

Foster points out how hard it is to bridge the gap between an 18 year-old Academy youth and 'Mans' football, simply because of strength and size. He also points out that Fagan would not have made it 9 months ago, he wasn't ready. He needed time to grow and that he has done that now.

Only time will tell, but I'd like to see him fill a Forrester role. According to Foster his qualities are his 'football brain' and his 'movement'.

can only really judge the new signings once they pull on a city shirt.

its ok what they have or haven't done in the past, it may just be a case of lincoln 'suiting' the player and may get on like a house on fire.

At least the lad went to the right place to try and put his career back on track instead of just settling for non League etc. I will back him. Let's give him a chance everyone: you just never know in this business. Could turn out to be pants: could turn out to be one of our best players.

I am not diputing their worth in a city shirt, though Beevers, freck and Nguessan were/are all good players.

My point was the saving in wages and that the players we have acquired so far will be on a fraction of that, so as my post said where is the money going or has Wright slashed Jakson budget.

Secondly to the point about he must be good because Jackson has given him a 2 year deal, I don't agree with that because of Jacksons track record in transfers at City. Other than burch and mayebe swaibu. But to name a few of his poor ones, Gall, Graham, Horsefield, Sinclair, Oakes, Iffy, possibly Kovacs.

And to quote the hype again 'could prove to be the best signing of the summer?' Well if Hudds fans liked him and I don't see how they could really, unless they get great gates at reserve games then why didn't they get him or carlisle??

Lets give the bloke a chance. Jacko obviously is thinking in terms of squad rather than individuals.

There are hundreds probably thousands of cheap players out there. They have obviously seen something in him that can be developed, and have taken a punt.

Maybe it will all come right. Blend is everything.

fair comments, however i disagree with the one about the 2 year deal... he's young, and if the gamble pays off, we might regret only giving him a one year deal at such a young age too where we would be likely to lose him if he impressed for us. I'm not comparing him to other players because obviously he is a different player and everyone deserves a decent crack.

I do not know if he is any good or not but he is a Lincoln player from July 1 and before he has even kicked a bleedin' pigs bladder for us I cannot and will not pass judgment.

So welcome Chris if that's okay with everyone

PS: If you are reading this board (as youngsters tnd2do) just think yourself lucky you aren't replacing our previous goalkeeper.

Weren't his words, 'prove to be the best signing of the summer based on potential'? That sends out a whole new message from the one where you conveniently missed out the most important part.

Give him a chance and maybe he will come good. Still think if we start the season with Evans,Fagan and Clarke we will suffer from lack of goals again.

Maybe we'll bring in someone on loan with a bit of experience.
Having said that Evans has played 2 seasons of league football. If he does sign of course!

So with all of these signings does it mean the end of Pat?

He's been offered a deal and then its upto him to accept or decline.

Cheshire, well said, we all know Patulea has got potential but there is the chance he has listened too much to us telling him how good he is, I am sure he is waiting to see what options are around for him and part of me says fair enough....loyalty doesn't exist in this game anymore and if he wants to try somewhere else......thanks for the goals last season and good luck to you.

It was just a question really. As I am an exiled Imp I don't get to see the rantings etc etc from the Echo so was unsure. I agree, loyalty doesn't count for anything these day.

I'm a rather elderly chap so you must bear in mind my perspective. No doubt, like others, I was thrilled by his unconventional arrival at our club and also by his goals for us this season.

He ran to the Manager when he scored one goal and I believe they embraced (wouldn't have done that sort of thing in my day but I only got as far as Reading).

If he has decided that whatever we have offered him is not enough for him to pull on an Imps shirt for next season he can go as far as I am concerned.

Disappointed? Yes. But we'll have to move on if we can.
