Gillingham promoted via Playoffs

Gillingham will be competing in League Two next season after Simeon Jackson scored a 89th minute winning goal for the side from Kent. The Gills return to League One at the first attempt, whereas Shrewsbury have "done a Lincoln" and lost their second Playoff Final in three years.

The Playoff win was richly deserved by Gillingham. They dominated the Final but failed to score until the 89th minute when Jackson headed in from a corner. Most neutrals will say it's the fair result as well after Gillingham had always been chasing promotion, whereas Shrewsbury only climbed into the Playoffs on the Final Day.

It now means League Two will consist of the following teams in 2009/10 - Accrington Stanley, Aldershot Town, Barnet, Bournemouth, Bradford, Burton, Bury, Cheltenham, Chesterfield, Crewe, Dagenham and Redbridge, Darlington, Grimsby, Hereford, Lincoln, Macclesfield, Morecambe, Northampton, Port Vale, Rochdale, Rotherham, Shrewsbury and Torquay United.

Truely deserved. Also gives me a chance of going to Salop to watch the Imps bet them next season.

Still wish it was us.

Right team won it but a poor decision decided the game.
9 months work decided like that is very harsh.

was a very good game, shrewsbury didnt really turn up until the second half though

Much better game today, Millwall Vs Scunny. And, Scunny did deserve to win.

Gillingham benefited from a very poor decision by the ref. I reckon we have been there sooooo many times, but as the opposite team!

A team we beat twice gets promoted.

League 2 was poor this season.

Oh well at least we dont have to go in that @#$%& away end
