Accrington are Kerr-plunked

Firstly, I apologise for the dodgy title, but it was all worth it as Scott Kerr, rarely a troubler of the scoresheet, scored twice against Accrington Stanley to give the Imps a victory which now leaves the Imps with a decent chance of making the Playoffs, although we really should have won by more. The Imps started brightly and it didn't take long for Kerr to open the scoring. Adrian Patulea took a throw in quickly on the left and it fell to Kerr, the captain hit it first time and it went beyond Arthur and into the net. It was his first goal since an away game at Bury in October 2007, ironically his last goal before that also came against Accrington Stanley.
The Imps continued to be the controlling side and came close on several occasions to make it 2-0 within the next section of the half, Elding coming the closest with a volleyed effort from 40 yards going just wide of the target. However, Stanley almost drew level undeservedly when Burch was forced to make a point blank save from a headed cross. That was realistically Accrington's only decent chance of the first half.
Just five minutes into the second half and a first for the Imps occurred. Kerr picked the ball up again and ran into the box, evading several challenges before smashing the ball in with his left foot. It was the first time he had scored twice in a match for the Imps, it was also the first time since the home match with Accrington Stanley that a single City player had scored more than once in a match.
City continued to control the match and Michael O'Connor came close to scoring his first goal for the Imps, a failed attempt at a chip caught by Arthur. However, the Imps did manage to record back to back victories to move within six points of the Playoffs with a game in hand, including games against three of our four rivals for seventh place.

Good point. With our luck we'd get Wycombe, though!
Long may his renaisance continue although that could depend on whether Jacko can keep O'Connor for the rest of the season although he played well without him on Tuesday.
ahh, the happiness and depressions of football have happened to me in the past 24 hours, a fantastic win for us yesterday which could put us in the play off hunt, however AVFC @#$%& it up against united, mixed emotions currently!
