Adrian Patulea reached double figures for the Imps after scoring the only goal as the Imps won 1-0 against Macclesfield Town. City moved back into the top half of the table and "just" 8 points from the Playoff places with a game in hand, but it'll certainly take a much better performance from this if we're to even stand a very remote chance.

The Imps kicked off but it was the visitors who enjoyed the majority of the early possession, although City did have the first chance when Beevers and Kerr's link up creating a characteristically wasted chance from Mullarkey. Kerr hit the ball wide several minutes before he also hit the ball well over from 20 or so yards. It was certainly not a quick game and chances were at a premium.

It took until the 27^th minute for the next noteworthy incident and it was certainly worth it for the Imps. N'Guessan sent a ball deep, deep into the box and Elding headed it back across goal, finding Adrian Patulea bounding forward and heading it into the net to reach double figures for the season, re-establishing him as City's stand alone leading goalscorer from Dany N'Guessan.

Patulea again came close to scoring but was denied by Paul Morgan. The Romanian striker struggled the get the ball from under his feet after a corner. Beevers tried his luck from 15 yards, only to see his effort blocked before going down under a Nat Brown challenge, the referee waving away the penalty claims.

 The second half started with Macclesfield wasting a near perfect chance to equalise. The ball was played across the box to Rooney and the relation to Wayne Rooney somehow missed an open goal from mere yards out....that'll be him signing for City in the summer then.

N'Guessan  show straight at Brain before Simon Yeo replaced Junior Daniel, receiving a generally positive response from the City faithful and he almost scored within 20 seconds, snap-shooting from 20 yards, only to see Burch force it out for a corner.

The game took a strange turn as the referee constantly gave decisions against the teams who should have won them. For example, there were many examples of a Macclesfield player heading the ball behind, only for the Silkmen to be given a goal kick.

Patulea shot wide from distance before Aaron Brown was cropped from behind by Hadfield, the Macc-man getting booked for his troubles. N'Guessan shot wide but it was attacks were rare after this and the Imps won 1-0, moving up to twelve position.
