Reaction to the undeserved romp of Accrington

Lincoln City made have won the game by four goals, but we certainly didn't play the whole match like a team that deserved to. Only some half time substitutions, which in themselves took some time to come into full effect, prevented City from getting embarrased to destroying a team that certainly weren't as bad as the scoreline would suggest. I never thought that I would see us win 5-1 and still be a bit sceptical. It does amaze me that fans are saying "it's only one game" after we fail to win game after game, but as soon as we win after playing poorly, we're definitely going to win promotion (apparently). I've browsed this site's forum and seen messages saying that we should get up Peter Jackson's arse because we won a game 5-1 when we could have easily been 4-0 down at half time.

Don't get me wrong, I am pleased that we won 5-1, but it will take more than 22 minutes of decent play in about six weeks for me to be convinced that we will finish above midtable. I'm not going to lie that the first half was quite possibly the worst 45 minutes that I have ever seen this football club take part in. Accrington aren't a great side but we made them look like a team that could easily win this division.

However, one thing I am going to say is that I am finally able to say that Jackson seems to have seen sense regarding his substitutions. He didn't wait until it was too late to make his substitutions and he finally made the right ones. I've been saying for ages that LJL isn't good enough to be in the first team, he has an awful first touch, rarely makes any positive contributions, and worst of all he seemingly lacks the desire. God knows how many times he just stood there waiting for the ball to come to him rather than him going to the ball.

Best of all about the substitutions was that it gave the chance for Ben Wright to score his first League goal of the season, it's the confidence booster that he needs having not had the best possible start to the season. The same could be said for Adrian Patulea after two months without a goal, ironically also in our penultimate home win.

Oh well, I suppose I should just shut up and be pleased about our relatively undeserved romp and look forward to my long trip to Notts County next Saturday.....all 30 minutes walk of it.

First half dismal; second half some very exciting football, part of which I haven't seen there for years.

Just what is going on in the camp?
