Reaction to Lenell John-Lewis' 2007/8

i have never seen such a strong youngster he has been to me very impressive.

i think he will be a regular starter next season.

Simple passing sometimes a bit off, but a good pre-season could be vital, if he goes into next season confident could be a very key player, sometimes just needs a cooler head I think

He is a youngster that is destined to get better as time goes on, and he will almost certainly get better with experience.

How come this doesn't apply to Pembleton or Clarke?

Do they have no scope for improvement?

Because I thought Clarke was a bit@#$%&when I saw him playing for the reserve a few years ago and he's still as@#$%&now. He hasn't improved with time.

As for Pembleton, the only way he'll improve is if he actually starts makign a decent contribution to more than 1 game from every 6.

It's a big step from reserve team football to first team football and both Clarke and Pembleton are relatively inexperienced at that level. I don't think you've answered the question.

Why do you think LJL can only improve with experience and the same can't be applied to either Clarke or Pembleton. They are all of the same age and experience I just can't see how you can be so enraptured by one and he is seemingly the only that can improve and yet so dismissive of the other two.

It's not that I necessarily disagree with you, but I'm just trying to understand your logic.

Disappointed Nathan. For somebody who is usually not shy about coming forward to defend your opinions I think your decision not to answer what I think are pretty valid questions is quite illuminating.

Oh well, it was worth a try I suppose...

The reason I did not answer was because I'm quite frankly getting really bored and tired of having to justify my opinions about players. There have been plenty of incidents where I've said something about a player and someone else has said that same thing....yet I was the only person questions about it.

You don't HAVE to justify your opinions at all. It's just that if you come on and make strident comments about players then you perhaps should expect to be questioned.

Maybe you should be complimented that people ask you to justify it. There are many posters here who I couldn't give a toss what they think, but you are not one of them. I was simply curious as to how you reached the conclusion about one youngster about his scope to improve - and yet seemingly didn't think that potential lay in others. It wasn't even your opinion about the merits of the player I was questioning. It was the logic you were applying.

I was slightly frustrated as I have on several occasions stuck up for you when others have seen fit to criticise. I disagree with many of your opinions but have always admired your desire to back them up, and have said this several times. I think this was the first time I had put a question directly to you and it was ignored.

If your fed up of justifying your opinions then I think you should pick and chose who you debate with. I don't know it all, but like to think 30+ years has given me some insight and was interested in engaging in a football discussion. If you are happier justifying your opinions to somebody who is posting when they should be doing their homework or others who clearly are not for shifting (certain members of the Marriott Mafia) then so be it.

Don't dodge the difficult questions.

Didn't get too many viewings of Lenny last season, but what I saw gives scope for genuine optimism that he'll progress further.

I'd play him on one wing and DNG down the opposite side, especially at home and simply encourage them to attack the full-backs at every opportunity.
