Jamie Forrester has an excellent goals:games ratio for the Imps but he could potentially find himself without a club if Jackson decides not to renew his contract in the summer. However, surely Jackson won't get rid of a striker that has a scoring record of a goal near every 2 games whilst at the Imps....but then again Keith Alexander did release GTF.

Jamie Forrester has played 85 games for the Imps has scored 35 goals for City over two spells. You simply can’t argue that he is a goalscorer but Jamie’s contributions simply don’t stop at goals. Over the 2 spells he has set up countless goals for others in methods such as back-heels, overhead kicks and other various tricks. He is arguably City’s most entertaining player.

Jamie became an instant hit with the Imps just over 2 years ago when he produced a match winning performance to see City thrash Grimsby 5-0. That was part of his first spell at the club on loan from Bristol Rovers. He made it permanent in the summer and had an excellent first full season at Sincil Bank, scoring 3 hat-tricks before the end of October.

Unlike Mark Stallard, Forrester’s legs don’t appear to be going with age and Forrester could probably still do a job for a League 1 team. Forrester still runs all game long and his poaching instinct was shown in a game against Rochdale in February. The goalkeeper spilt a free kick and Forrester pounced before he had a chance to pick it up.

Forrester only really has one weakness and that is his height. It comes as no surprise that he has yet to score a header for City. However, if Forrester can keep up that impressive goals:games ratio without scoring headers then I’ll be happy.

In my eyes Forrester should definitely be offered a new contract. He’s still scored goals for a team that has struggled for the majority of the season and if we are to challenge for promotion again next season then surely Forrester is a must-keep.

I agree, not only does he scores goals (which will do for a striker), he offers so much more; with many assists and also brings players into the game with a good awareness of his surroundings.

Not to forget that he will more than likely become a coach and could easily mentor young forwards. I seem to recall him discussing tactics with Schofield a few times at away games.

You seem to be assuming we could find some better, younger talent from somewhere - let's face it we're not exactly experts at this are we?

I have changed my mind, again. A few weeks ago I was saying "keep him" because of the reasons already mentioned here.

More recently, I said "let him go" following that dreadful team performance at Peterborough (and I don't care how many people tell me that they have spent x millions of pounds so should be where they are - we were still dreadful and actually made them look better than their recent home form suggests!!)

But, now I think that Jamie should be given another year.

Give him another year definetely, if not two! He's a great striker who is probably one of the most intelligent I have seen at Sincil Bank. If we manage to purchase some decent strikers in the summer (easier said than done) then I would be more than happy to see him act as a "super-sub", then fill in when we get injuries and suspensions up front.

Keep, he is a good example for younger players and liek the article says, he's not past it yet. Also, im sure he scored a diving header at begining of last season

Nope. You're probably confusing Freck's header against Walsall. Jamie definitely hasn't scored a header.

He should be given a player/coach role - specifically working with kids and maybe having a school/community role. He apparently has a talent for working with youngsters - they obviously like him (I teach one of his students) I think he could also have an ambassadorial role as well. Loads of reasons (not just goals) for Jamie staying.

I must be alone in thinking his legs are going, if not gone. I don't think he has ever been the quickest, but he is certainly far from it now.
He is undoubtedly still a decent footballer with a good, quick mind in the game, and definitely still more involved than Stalls. I'm just not sure his lack of pace, coupled with his physical stature puts him in good stead for the battles ahead next season.
Realistically, I think it depends largely on who else we bring in and where we are going to be in the table. If we are going to be flying at the top and playing lovely expansive stuff, then he should be kept on. If we are going to struggle at the wrong end again, I don't think he is what we need.

Agreed. Intelligent footballer, and should we find a strike partner who will do his running for him, he'll still be useful next season. Scores and sets up/creates opportunities.

I think though he"s getting no younger,alot of our ageing crop may well be released and with our young forward players we need some experience of his football brain on the field and training pitch!!Keep him,maybe player coach???
