Should I Stay or Should I Go? : Brown

With fans getting increasingly annoyed with his performances it is no surprise he's been nicknamed "Nat Clown" and he'll be extremely fortunate to earn a new contract this summer. Brown is one of several due to leave Sincil Bank unless he gets offered a new contract, which looks less and less likely with every passing day.
I've never been a fan of Nat Brown. I found it no coincidence that as soon as he reappeared in the first team last season our form suddenly went out of the window.
The game away at Hartlepool in March 2007 was a fine example of why Nat Brown is bad for this team. Hartlepool kept putting the ball into the box and Brown hoofed clear, Hartlepool picked it up and put another ball into the box, Brown hoofed it clear again. That was pretty much the story for 90 minutes until Brown then decided to clear a ball into the box with a handball a basketball team would have been proud of.
This season Brown has made mistake after mistake after mistake. It all started against Shrewsbury when instead of calmly controlling the ball and then clearing it, he tried to hit it first time and ended up scuffing it right into the path of a Shrewsbury player and the rest is history.
The vast majority of our defensive frailties are down to Nat Brown. For every good thing he does there is always two bad things just around the corner. Even his heading ability has now disappeared and you'd be hard push to find him making any positive contributions to games.
He appears to have no footballing brain and certainly no plan B. His method appears to be hoof and ask questions later. When he makes a mistake it usually leads to a goal and if we're going to have a squad capable of challenging for promotion then I see no place for Brown in our squad.
I would quite frankly be amazed if he if offered a new contract. Looking on the positive though, at least if he doesn't have a football club to play for then he can finally get his wrist sort.

I'd play myself instead of him! There were people on this board who raved about him, and week and week out complained about Mayo, when it should have been the other way round. Has been poor ever since he hurt his arm.
Tactically and positionally inept, all he can do is head and hoof a ball. Speed of thought 2/10, Pace 5/10, Skill level 4/10; sorry, not good enough.
Otherwise, bye bye...
I think Jacko will get rid of him at the end of the season.

just not good enough and every time he gets nearthe ball you fear the worst. makes too many errors.
thing is though you have to ask yourself why has he been a starting regular of recent weeks, makes me think he may be offered a new deal. i'd rather have moses playing who i saw in the stand at peterborough

His early games at centre half I thought were encouraging. Since when he has been inconsistent and prone to a howler here and there. But lets be honest, he is not alone.
He's one of the players we love to hate which I find distasteful as mob mentality is rarely constructive and too often is unthinking. As ever I don't think he is anything like as bad as is often portrayed on here.
That said, I think he should be released.
My biggest problem with him stems from the opening day of the season when he gave Phil Watt a volley of verbal after one of Shrewsbury's goals. Watt had made a mistake (and a big one!!) but was a young lad, making his debut in a team that was being over run. I would like to have seen more of Watt. I think his confidence was shredded after that game and I don't think Nat Brown helped. At times a right bollocking is needed. But there are times when quiet encouragement is needed. For me, Nat's judgement on that day was as bad as any of his mistimed tackles...
