Nat Brown's substitute appearance for City against Macclesfield Town on Saturday saw him make his 100th senior appearance for the Imps, 22 of those coming this season. Brown has averaged a goal every 10 games during that period, not bad for a defender even though all but one of those came in his first season at Sincil Bank after leaving Huddersfield Town.

Back in the summer of 2005 City were looking for numerous players after virtually half of the first team had left. Shrewsbury Town were also in the same situation and asked Peter Jackson (then Huddersfield manager) if they could take Nat Brown on trial. Brown did look set for a move to Gay Meadow before Keith Alexander temped him to come to Sincil Bank.

Since then Nat Brown has made 100 appearances for City with a varied range of performances. He has also not been shy of the goal as he put 9 past the opposition in his first season, his goals winning us a total of 5 thats season. Last season was slightly quieter with only a close range effort at Chester to show for it, and he has failed to find the net this season.

He is just one of a small group of current players to make over 100 appearances for the Imps at senior level. The other's are Lee Beevers (125 appearances), Lee Frecklington (104 appearances), Scott Kerr (129 appearances) and Alan Marriott, who looks likely to break the club's all time appearance record next season, assuming he is offered a new contract, as he currently sits on 385 appearances for City.
