Steve Torpey had his contract cancelled by mutual consent on Monday afternoon and looks set to join Farsley Celtic on a permanent basis after spending a recent loan spell there. Torpey played 14 games for Lincoln City since joining in the summer, failing to score in that time, keeping his career total of 183 goals

Torpey has scored one goal this season, in Farsley's 3-0 win over a Halifax side that also contained a player called Steve Torpey. However, that is the only game in which he played for Fashley in which they didn't lose. In his 20 games this season for both Lincoln and Farsley he was on the winning side just twice, the aforementioned Farsley victory over Halifax and City's 2-0 win over Accrington.

Steve Torpey joined a unique club when he joined the Imps in the summer. He joined Martin Carruthers, Jamie McCombe in joining the Imps after representing Scunthorpe against City in the Playoffs, a club that Lee Ripley recently joined, although he didn't play against the Imps in either playoff game.

Having been released from Sincil Bank on Monday afternoon it is now likely that he will joined Farsley on a permanent basis. Originally a target of Lee Sinnott, he rejected Farsley before joining the Imps, but was the target of abuse from a strong contingent of Imps fans, never more emphasised than when he was substituted at Doncaster in the cup, recieving a huge ironic cheer and then booing as he left the pitch.
