Imps get duo on loan deals

Lincoln City have shocked a few people going dipping into the market as early as January 4th to bring in two players on loan, Lee Ridley from Cheltenham and Adam Smith from Chesterfield. City were after Ridley in the summer but eventually had to settle for Gary Croft, whereas a lot of Chesterfield fans seem to be glad to see the temporary back of Smith.

Lee Ridley played 100 League games for Scunthorpe and scored twice before leaving for Cheltenham. Included in those 100 games were both games against Lincoln in the 2004/5 season as he helped the Iron to a promotion that had been deserved after several years or trying. His only other appearance against City came a few weeks back when he was part of the Darlington squad that beat City 4-0 at Sincil Bank.

Adam Smith has played 63 League games for Chesterfield, not bad for a player of a relative young age. However, his departure on a temporary basis has been met with joy by quite a few Chesterfield fans. On the Football Forum, quotes about Smith's move from Chesterfield included the following;

"Personally, I don't rate him, at all. He's got a bit of pace and an half-decent shot but not a lot else, he loves taking the ball down blind alley-ways before then proceeding to lose it and his awareness of team mates is non-existant."

Both will more than likely go into tomorrow's squad that travels to Rochdale.
