August saw City get off to an awful start in the season by conceding 8 goals in the first two matches, despite that we still managed to end the month in 4th place. City did their usual first round exit of a cup competition and a striker who would end as 2007's top scorer joined just after a pre-season win over Scunthorpe United, and no, it's not Jamie Hand.

City started off the month with Jamie Forrester scoring in the 90th minute to secure a victory over Scunthorpe United in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup. During half time at that game John Deehan appeared on the pitch with someone who no-one recognised. It would turn out to be Ben Wright, a striker who was on trial at Barnet. He would eventually reject a deal at Underhill to join the Imps.

City's penultimate game saw a youthful Imps side win 2-1 at Horncastle but the pre-season ended with a defeat as a strong Watford side won 2-1 at Sincil Bank. It was only the second time that City had lost during the pre-season, following on from a 3-0 defeat at Retford.

John Schofield was then given a 3 year contract despite his failure to get City promoted. His job title was then changed to Manager rather than Head Coach. Either way Lincoln were screwed as we had Schofield for the foreseeable future. One of his first jobs of his new contract was to send Ryan Semple on loan to Rushden.

The first game of the new season saw Shrewsbury visit the Bank and destroy the Imps. 4 second half goals without reply meant that City sat bottom of the table after just one game, not the best of starts. 4 days later and City lost 4-1 at Doncaster in the first round of the Carling Cup, a Jamie Forrester consolation late on giving the Imps their first goal of the season.

Jamie Hand joined the Imps from Chester City on a 2 year deal and made his debut in the away game at Mansfield. Louis Dodds opened the scoring after little more than a minute. Midway through the first half Boulding equalised from the spot before N'Guessan put City back in the lead after little more than a minute.

Mark Stallard rounded off the victory with a curling effort just before the end of the game and the Imps were finally off the mark for the season. Dany N'Guessan's impressive performance saw him make team of the week.

Ollie Ryan continued his prolific scoring record for the reserves by scoring both goals in City's 2-1 win over Grimsby to reach the final of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup.

N'Guessan shined again as City comfortably saw off Accrington Stanley. He scored the first goal in a game that City dominated, with only Louis Dodds's effort adding to City's tally. It would see the Imps move up to 4th place but it would also be the last time City would win for 3 months.

That game also saw Marriott keep his 100th clean sheet for the Imps just days after his wife gave birth to their first child. City haven't kept a clean sheet since that day.
