After discussions with James Lazenby, the marketing manager at Lincoln City, we are pleased to be able to bring you the following outline of "THE JACKSON 5". 

Over the next few weeks we will be producing articles inspiring all fans to do their bit to get the club up the table. Before I show the press release however, I would like to personally thank Peter Jackson and Neil McDonald for restoring my own personal enthusiasm about going to the games in recent weeks.

Without trying to sound disrespectful to the previous management, I started to feel that going to watch Lincoln City was more like a chore than an actual social pleasure, but now I enjoy going to matches again, and I can't thank them enough. 

Anyway, enough from me and here is the Press Release (dated 5/12/07).

PETER JACKSON SETS OUT PROMOTION VISION 

Hot on the heels of back-to-back League victories, Lincoln City manager Peter Jackson has [today] issued a five-month plan to lead the Imps to promotion at the end of the current season. Encompassing five key positive messages which will be promoted around Lincoln over the coming five months, Jackson aims to inject a positive attitude and confidence in the Imps, not only within the Club, but through the historic city, to help drive the Club to success by May 2008. 

The Club has already benefited from Jackson’s positive approach to management with the impressive 3-1 win at Stockport County lifting the Imps out of the bottom three and to within 15 points of a play-off position.  

Jackson explained: “The five month strategy is my way of lifting this club to achieve the level of success it deserves and is capable of. My mindset is always to think success and I am determined to deliver this positive attitude to players, staff and fans. In fact, I want the whole city to embrace this strategy for the coming months.  

“I have outlined five areas outside of football that will help to bring success to this club as long as everyone works hard to achieve them and, more importantly, believes in them.” Jackson believes that with his experience and passion for the game coupled with a new belief both on and off the field at Lincoln City he has the foundations to deliver.  Jackson continued: “The Chairman and I have worked hard since I joined the club and he has backed me all the way to deliver a new period in the club’s history.  

“We should all believe in ourselves and consequently believe in achieving promotion.”

   Jackson’s five-month plan for promotion:- 

 1. Think Success – Achieve Success (December) A positive attitude will be the bedrock for the next five months of the season and is crucial in helping the Club achieve success.  When we wake up in the morning, we think success; when we lay out our kit, think success; when we cross the white line, think success; when we go through the turnstiles, think success; when we cheer from the stands, think success. Only by believing in success will we achieve it. 

2. Everybody counts – together we are fantastic (January) Success will not be achieved by 11 men on the pitch, or even Peter Jackson on the touchline. Success will be achieved by everybody involved with the Club, from the supporters in the stand to the cleaner; from the ball boys through to the kit man, all the way up to the chairman. Each person who hold’s the success of Lincoln City close to their hearts can play a vital role in ensuring success by adopting Jackson’s five month strategy over the coming months. 

3. Believe Lincoln (February) By this point in the season, Lincoln City should be a new club in terms of confidence; however, we should never rest on our laurels or lose belief in ourselves to achieve what we have set out to do, even if we may be still short of the mark. Nothing worth doing is ever easy, and it is vital we do not lose our belief in our ability to achieve our goals. No Christmas hangovers, prepare for a new celebration! 

4. Passion is powerful (March) There will be many attributes which will help Lincoln gain success, but passion will be the most powerful. The passion to win, to persevere, to never let our heads drop or our commitment waiver, from every player to every fan. We may lose along the way but if we have clearly delivered commitment and passion then no one can criticise.       

5. Winning is everything (April) With the end of the season in sight, this month will be a rallying call to every Imp; we may be flying high or perhaps still short of our target – regardless – we must win at almost any cost. ~ends~
