Gritton loaned out to Mansfield

As we reported last night, Martin Gritton has indeed left Sincil Bank, going on loan to Mansfield Town for the season. The striker has been seriously out of favour since joining from Grimsby just over a year ago. It is believed that the loan move has a view to a permanent move.

The striker has scored just 3 goals in 28 appearances, although 18 of those appearances came from the bench. He's always been behind Mark Stallard and Jamie Forrester in the pecking order at Sincil Bank, and with the news of Gary Birch leaving yesterday, it could mean that another striker could be coming in.

He signed on loan for the rest of the season along with Darlington's Barry Conlon, and manager Billy Dearden was delighted to secure the pair, stating on Mansfield's official website;

"I am delighted to have got both these players as I said when Richie Barker left, I wanted to bring in an experienced player in as cover. I have got two strong experienced professional that I think will benefit the club."

At this stage, it would seem unlikely that Gritton will play for City again.
