Gritton set to become a Stag?

Martin Gritton has apparantly been telling people that he's agreed to a transfer to City's local rivals, Mansfield Town. The striker has been out of favour since joining a year ago, occasionally making a cameo appear, and has apparantly jumped at the chance to join Mansfield Town.

Gritton was at an award ceremony that celebrated achievements in education along with several other people from the club. He was alleged to have said to several people that he was signing for Mansfield within the next few days as the Stags try to replace Ritchie Barker. The Stags have already agreed to sign Darlington's Barry Conlon and are hoping to improve their poor points tally which sees them in danger of being relegated to the Conference.

If Gritton does leave, it would bring to an end a relatively disappointing spell at City, in which he never challenged for a regular first team place, starting just 10 games since joining last January. He scored a debut goal against Stockport and managed to score a suspiciously offside goal against Torquay in the 2nd week of the season. If he does depart, his final goal for City would be his impressive run and finish against Accrington at the beginning of September.

We'll bring you more on this if indeed turns out to be true.
