Gary Birch leaves Sincil Bank

Gary Birch has left Sincil Bank after having his contract mutually terminated to aid his chances of finding a new club. The striker who signed from Kidderminster Harriers at the beginning of last season, was recently told that he was free to find a new club after an injury plagued season.

Birch was on fire in the pre-season, scoring good goals for fun but an injury stopped that run and he was sent on loan to Tamworth, there he again injured himself before returning to City, and inevitably being sent on loan to Hucknall as he desperately tried to get back to full fitness. However, he returned and failed to even make it onto the bench for any of City's recent games, and after being told that he could find a new club, he was quickly linked with a return to Tamworth, a move that would have seem him link up with former Imps, Tom Kemp and Simon Weaver.

Birch agreed to terminate his contract as it seems that he has a good chance to find a new club, and out of the other 3 players that were told they could leave, Luke Foster is apparantly set to sign for Macclesfield, whereas Danny Bacon is having a trial that could possibly see him return to his first club, Mansfield Town.
