It was one of the best games of the season as City and MK Dons played out a 2-2 draw that had virtually everything in it. There were some high quality goals, penalties, a red card, some questionable refereeing decisions here and there, and a second half with none-stop action.

Well what a game that was, it had virtually everything and it's the sort of game you'd hope to see shown live on Sky. I've watched quite a lot of games on Sky this season from all 4 divisions and I must say that the majority of games they choose are utter crap, but this was different and it will hopefully cause Sky to continue showing a lot of League 2 games in the future. It was one of the more entertaining games we've had recently, and arguably the most exciting since the game at Sincil Bank between the two sides in September.

Each goal from open play was well taken and although Marriott could have got to the first one, he didn't stand a chance with the second one that stormed past him. The only disappointing aspect of goal-scoring was that we didn't test their goalkeeper more than we did. He didn't look comfortable in goal at all, often dropping the ball or just watching it go just wide. Having said that though, Weir-Daley's goal was a masterclass is making an opportune run into the box and precision finishing, it was just a pity that well taken goal only earned the Imps a point in the end.

MK were still holding up their deserved reputation of being dirty as hell and diving when ever possible, Izale McLeod being the obvious example. However, the one thing I'll give to MK is that they work hard and won't give you a moments rest, I'd be very surprised if they didn't finish in the Top 3. They'll definitely have to work on their penalty taking though as those were two of the worst penalties I've ever seen, especially the first one. In truth the first penalty should have seen the game dead and buried before half time.

We were second best for most of the match, especially in the first half when we couldn't get beyond the half way line before the ball was quickly returned to us. However, in the second half we came more into the game and obviously forced the equaliser, and then when appeared to be a winning goal.

As for the two penalties against us, what can you say? I don't know what Morgan was thinking when he put his arm up, and I'd be curious to know what he was trying to do when the ref was only a few feet away. The second one was just down to being a bit awkward in hsi challenge, and as soon as McLeod went down you could tell it was going to be a penalty and a sending off. Let's not forget however that he did make several vital tackles during the match that stopped the hosts breaking through on goal.

I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't gutted to concede that late equaliser but in all fairness, MK deserved something out of the game. Hopefully now that we've stopped the rot of 5 losses in the previous 6 on the road, we can finally start to push on and win automatic promotion. It's not the first time this season that we've been second best against a promotion contender as Swindon battered us before we beat them. Thankfully we don't play another automatic challenger for over a month so hopefully we can take advantage and gain some serious points.
