Lincoln City won the Lincoln derby for the 3rd year in a row thanks to Frecklington and a brace from Gary Birch. It was a close game that City were always struggling to pull away in despite taking a early 2-0 lead with 2 goals in less than 45 seconds before eventually winning 3-2.

The game started off slowly but soon Gary Birch gave the Imps with the lead with a brilliant curved goal from around 25 yards out that flew over the goalkeeper's head and less than 40 seconds later and Lee Frecklington pounced to double City's lead. Howevver, that advantage didn't last long as United were awarded a penalty. Raynor could only push the penalty onto the post before it rebounded straight into the path of the penalty taker who had the easy job of scoring.

The half ended at 2-1 but Gary Birch scored his 2nd goal with a brilliant volley from the edge of the area to make it 3-1 and Jamie Sherlock had a goal disallowed for offside when he chipped over the goalkeeper. Lincoln United eventually scored a 2nd but it ended with City's 2nd 3-2 friendly win in 3 days.
