Harrogate Town 3 Leigh RMI 0

RMI's recent upturn in results came crashing to an abrupt end when they fell to a defeat against the side that the revival began on Boxing Day. Andy Nelson's side travelled across the Pennines full of confidence after a productive festive period that saw RMI upset the odds to defeat Harrogate and Hucknall at Hilton Park with both sides flying high in the league, allowing Leigh to climb the table away from the relegation zone in the process.

All that progress was seemingly lost on an almost hungover RMI side who fell behind after just 26 seconds of the game when some schoolboy RMI defending allowed Ben Jones to nip in to put the hosts in front. That lead was quickly doubled when another defensive howler allowed Danny Holland to latch on to a poor defensive header to get around John Lamb and put the ball in to the empty net with just nine minutes on the clock.

The game was effectively ended as a contest after barely twenty minutes when Jones grabbed his second of the game to wrap up the victory and end RMI's mini revival.

Although the scoreline and performance suggests a bit of a humbling defeat for RMI, they can take heart from the fact that Harrogate are riding high in the league and with two home games coming up against fellow strugglers Redditch and Lancaster, there is a good chance that they can get back on track.
