Leigh Genesis' reward for their thrilling 4-3 FA Cup First Qualifying Round over Rossendale United on Saturday is an away tie against Teesside-based Norton & Stockton Ancients in the Second Qualifying Round.
Rick Gleave's goal, six minutes in to added ontime, was enough for Genesis to overcome Vodkat Premier League side RossendaleUnited in Saturday's enthralling First Qualifying Round tie at Dark Lane, despiteboth Paul Hopkins and John Lawless being sent off in the second half.
The tie is the first meeting of the clubs, withNorthern League Division One side Norton defeating Chester-le-Street Town2-1 in the previous round on Saturday.
The Second Qualifying Round tie with Norton& Stockton will take place at their home venue of Norton (Teesside) Sports Complex in Stockton-on-Tees on Saturday 25th September with a 3pm kick off.
As a consequence, the Evo-Stik League DivisionOne North fixture away to Skelmersdale United that was originally scheduled totake place on this date will now be re-arranged and confirmed in due course.
Very interesting draw, and I'd like to think winnable! Their league is the same level as the North West Counties, though it must be said that it is apparently a VERY strong league.
Without wishing to sound negative, I'd be happy with a replay to be honest but I think we've got to reason to be happy with the draw compared to what we could have got.
yeah looking at the teams we could have had we have got a reasonably good draw, hopefully win it at there place if not bring them back to costa del crilly, and chorley i dunno mate, thin they got knocked out in the prelim round
Hey Up are we getting a mini bus organised? or should I say, is Matt?
I can't make it next Saturday and feedback today seems to suggest I'm not the only one! Should be details confirmed over the weekend for folks who want to tag along with the team coach though.
absolutely gutted that the boys will have no fans there for this big fa cup game, hopefully they will bring home the cheque and make us proud and we will sing them onto victory against colls instead
