Friendly for Saturday

Leigh Genesis have confirmed their first pre-season friendly of the season is to take place this coming Saturday (18th July) away to newly-formed West Lancashire League Premier Division outfit AFC Darwen.

AFC Darwen were formed out of the ashes of the previous Darwen FC and will begin their first season in the West Lancashire League Premier Division, the same league as Turton, who Leigh will visit later in the summer.

The game is to take place at 3pm on Saturday 18th July at Darwen's 2,500 capacity Anchor Ground home.

The ground is situated on Anchor Road, just off the A666, which can be reached from M65 junction 4, or on the A666 itself from Bolton (postcode BB3 0BB).

The game was arranged at short notice with the eagerness of Genesis boss Garry Flitcroft to see his side in action after being impressed with his squad during an intensive training period.

"The lads have looked to be in amazing form since coming back after the summer break. We have trained hard and everyone is clearly raring to go. The time just felt right to have a competitive game, so luckily with help from the guys at Darwen we have been able to pull together this match at fairly short notice".

Admission costs just £3 for adults and £1.50 for juniors, so get yourself to Darwen and get behind the lads!

What an unexpected boost! Will be going up there in the car but not actually sure if my lad will be coming with me so don't know how many spaces I'll have.

I've got 7 names for the cars so far (Me, Nick, yourself, Dicko, James T, Mick & Bondy) so might need you or Dicko to drive as well as me and Nick.

Do you want a lift with us Tony or making your own way up there?
