Supporters Club Meeting - Reminder

By Matt Lawton
September 10 2008

A reminder that the season's first meeting of the Leigh Genesis Supporters Club is to take place tomorrow evening (Thursday 11th September) at the Litten Tree on Lord Street in Leigh at 7pm, with Genesis chairman Dominic Speakman and General Manager Mary Croasdale both in attendance.

Complimentary food is to be provided for those attending the meeting, so make sure you get down to the Litten Tree and spend the evening with like-minded Leigh Genesis supporters and feel free to raise any ideas or suggestions for what would make a good Supporters Club or anything to help the club move forward.

Can't go myself. Not had the chance to get to any games of yet either which isn't good!

But, if it is possible could someone possibly raise a point for me?

It's not a huge one, just one I thought of when I was in work the other day. Like Barcalona and Aston Villa, how about us sponsoring, rather than being sponsored next season, by a charity? Now I know we can't compete in terms of sponsorship deals with the bigger clubs and I'm not sure on the current financial state of the club with regards to how vital a sponsor would be next year but it's just a thought? I mean Wigan and Leigh hospice have been my families charity for some time now and I was just thinking about the idea? It would also give the club a chance to promote itself, i.e. Ticket giveaways in the hospice, in the lotteries etc.

Anyway, if there's any chance this point could be raised, it'd be much appreciated. Cheers!

Something similar was raised and basically we're looking to retain the current shirt for as long as is feasible really as it obviously helps to develop our identity.

Very productive meeting tonight with Tony Marshall (young marshy on here) voted the new Supporters Association chairman and, proving that the world has indeed gone mad, yours truly being voted in as LGSA secretary.

As part of this, this website will now become the official LGSA website so expect plenty of Supporters Association things to appear on here in the next few weeks - DATE FOR YOUR DIARY - THE NEXT MEETING IS TO TAKE PLACE ON WEDNESDAY 1ST OCTOBER AT A LEIGH VENUE TO BE CONFIRMED

I'll see what I can do Nick, obviously the next meeting is set for a Wednesday but we'll take a straw vote as to which night suits best and take it from there mate.
