Kevin Rapley scored a priceless goal from the penalty spot with barely eight minutes of the encounter remaining, sending Scarborough down to the Unibond while earning RMI a vital point in their own fight for survival. With last weekend's 1-0 home victory over Nuneaton Borough lifting RMI out of the relegation zone, almost turning around their entire season in the space of 90 minutes and as such instilling a massive amount of confidence, Stuart Humphreys' side made the trip to North Yorkshire in the knowledge that at least matching the result of relegation rivals Worksop would prove a massive boost in the penultimate game of the season.

Despite that air of confidence, Leigh found themselves on the back foot for the majority of the first half and could've gone behind when the home side hit the woodwork before the Seadogs took the lead through Jimmy Beadle on the half hour mark.

However, despite their desperation to stave off relegation for at least another week, Rapley levelled the scores from the penalty spot with eight minutes remaining, leaving RMI a point clear ahead of Worksop before next Saturday's relegation showdown against the Tigers at Hilton Park, whilst consigning Scarborough to their second successive relegation and a place in the Unibond Premier League next season.
