A late Emeka Nwadike goal proved to be the difference as Alfreton consigned RMI to their third league defeat in succession at the Impact Arena on Saturday afternoon. Stuart Humphreys' young side have now failed to win a league game since the victory over Workington early in the New Year, and their lack of confidence in front of goal was evident in Derbyshire, with only a Chris Simm effort fired straight at the goalkeeper to show for their first half efforts.

The second half saw the home side have the advantage of playing downhill, and they took advantage of that in building a tremendous amount of pressure on John Lamb’s goal before finally scoring the winner with just thirteen minutes of the game remaining.

The defeat leaves just three points ahead of the relegation zone after Redditch’s 2-1 home victory over Hyde United, although RMI do have the advantage of two games in hand on rivals Gainsborough and Stalybridge ahead of next weekend’s short trip to high-flying Droylsden.
