Newcastle United host Liverpool tomorrow in Saturday’s lunch time kick off. Liverpool travel on the back of three wins, two defeats and a draw from their last six games in all competitions, whilst Newcastle have won four and lost two from their last six. Both sides go into the game after League wins prior to the International break. 

Newcastle will be without Jonas Gutierrez who has returned to Argentina for personal reasons and Fabricio Coloccini who picked up a groin injury whilst on International duty. Steven Taylor (hamstring) and Massidio Haidara are both not due back until the 27^th October 2013.

Liverpool welcome back Glen Johnson (ankle), Joe Allen (hamstring) and Aly Cissokho (ankle) but will be without Coutinho (shoulder). Lucas Leiva returns from a one match ban.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has said this week he is out for revenge after last season’s 6-0 hammering at St James’ Park, and the fans will be hoping that he can indeed pull something out of the bag with striker Loic Remy on form having scored five goals in three games.

Papiss Cisse was also on the score sheet for Senegal during the International break and will be hoping he can hit the back of the net at St James Park.

However, for Liverpool Steven Gerrard is searching for his 100^th Premier League goal and has a history of scoring against Newcastle Utd (7).

Fact: Liverpool have won 7 of 10 last games between the two sides.

Fact: Papiss Cisse hasn’t scored in his last 13 Premier League games.

Suarez went down like a sack of spuds but Mbiwa gave him the chance with getting hands on.

Saying that I blame Tiote entirely for their first and the sending off. Terrible.

Was listening on the radio - apparently there was a case with Remy being "handled" by Skrtel in the second half in a very similar manner to the M'Biwa / Suarez incident.

The commentators seemed to be suggesting that if Remy had been less honest (i.e. made a meal of it like Suarez had) then we could have seen both teams down to 10 men...anyone see the incident?

the ref wasn't very consistent, there were incidents throughout the match where liverpool would get a free kick for something and then the same thing happen to us and nothing happen

I thought the Remy one wasn't as bad. Skrtel played the ball but the way he played it back to the keeper, one could say it was a back pass. M'biwa got screwed by Tiote, he played the biter onside and then it was too late. Probably could have let him have a shot as Suarez wasn't really crisp at that point. That being said Newcastle was just holding on for half time instead of pushing on for a second. Brendon Rogers was going to rail on them at half time, they should have pushed for a second while pool were having their difficulties. Instead we screwed around waiting for halftime, and paid the price. I thought that we were the better team all day even with us being down to 10 men. Although, the free headers were worrisome

Good point to take but for the derby they have to keep pushing. We need to give them a good pounding to keep the downward momentum going.

Tiote had been down with an injury and was running back into play when the ball got played over, there was nothing he could do, even if he had ran off the pitch he would have still played Suarez onside when the ball was played.

The dynamic of the team had changed it was better to just take a few minutes to get sorted and go in at half time with the scoreline 1-1 rather than chasing for another goal after just going down to 10 men and going in at halftime 2-1, had we gone behind we would have lost the game.

I did not know that, I only saw that he was running back up the pitch from behind just as the ball was played. In that case M'Biwa shouldn't have been playing such a high line. Bad timing. I also still think you take your chances and let Suarez have a go. He was having difficulties and just putting pressure on him may have been enough to put him off.

My contention was before this play had occurred. At around the 35-38 minute they took their foot off the gas and that was the difference. Liverpool were doing nothing of note, aside from the their corners because of our woeful corner defending. They were off, and we should have kept pushing. After we went down to 10 men, it was all about just making it to half time.

I guess all I'm really saying is a one goal lead isn't something to sit on, especially in the first half.

we are bad for sitting on 1 goal leads, the effort the players had put in up until that point will always lead to a period where they take their foot off, we just need to get better at doing it and not getting punished for it.

Mbiwa should have took the chance and let Suarez go 1 on 1 with krul, who knows he could have saved it and we would have still had 11 players but i suppose its easy to say that when your not actually in that position
