Shola Considers Looking Elsewhere For First Team Football

Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi has given the biggest hint yet that he could leave the club after playing second fiddle to other strikers for most of his career. The 31 year old is due to play his final season on his current contract with Newcastle, the club he has been loyal to for his entire career, but appears to have tired of being used as a substitute, playing only when fellow strikers are injured or unavailable.
Shola scored 4 goals in 35 games last season, 2 in 30 the season before and 9 out of 30 games in the 2010/11 season. Before that in 2009/10 he scored 11 goals in 21 games. However, this pre-season he has scored 4 goals in 6 games and is looking for regular first team football, which seems unlikely at Newcastle with the introduction of Loic Remy and the ongoing Gomis saga.
Shola told Sky Sports;
“This year is a big year for me. I am in the final year of my contract and got the World Cup at the end of the year as well so it is important I put myself physically in the best shape I can.
For Newcastle I always give 100% like I always have and if I am here that is what will happen. If they bring in strikers, I might have to see what else is out there because I need to be playing football – that is really important for me this year.
I have played here all my career and I love this club to bits, but I have put myself and my family and my situation first now and make sure I am getting the games in because that hasn’t happened in recent years.”
Shola's departure would cause a huge headache for manager Alan Pardew, who has relied heavily on the striker to cover International absences, especially as there appears to be no positive news coming from the club regarding signings.
Right, well I like Shola as a person but the thought of him achieving regular first team football is something that somewhT scares me when Newcastle players are talking up a top 6 finish.
He struggles to fire, he is relatively slow and not that clinical. Is like he should be at stoke!!
Shola is probably not the only one who should leave this summer....my only confusion is as to why perch and Simpson were in that hat of players who should have left?
I love the club but sometimes I can only sit and wonder what goes through some of their staffs heads
That video has made me smile , and also question why I didn't make it as a professional footballer ! As first touch and ball controll are obviously not all that important lol
Simpson and Perch were allowed to leave because of their contracts either having expired or coming into its last year they would have been sold what ever club they were at, the rest of the players who we all want rid of are still under contract.
