Remy Confirmed As Unavailable For Opening Game

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that new loan signing Loic Remy will miss the opening game of the season due to injury. Remy who was introduced to fans last night at the pre-season game against SC Braga, was injured when he moved from QPR but there had been some suggestion he may have made the bench against Manchester City on the 19th August.  That has now been ruled out with Pardew also suggesting that they will need to wait and see whether he will be fit for the West Ham game the following weekend.

Pardew told the Evening Chronicle;

"We look like we need a bit of improvement at the top of the pitch. We have Remy in and unfortunately he's injured, so that's still an area we need to improve on.

It's just a strain, but it's an area that is stopping him from running at the moment.

We need to get some work into him.

There is no chance of him making Man City. Whether there is a chance of him playing against West Ham in the next game is something we will have to suck and see as we go along."

Personally assuming he is not actually in prison for most of the season, he will prove to be a cracking signing.

They will take certain short term problems into consideration.

It's ok being short term when working with a solid side.

Taking short term into consideration when you are incompetent at producing signings if not effective management.

Newcastle has been accused of many things in the last few years, I don't believe effective management is one of them.

Medicals are an odd thing some teams swear by them and pull out of deals for players who fail the smallest thing and some teams take a risk on players, we seem to take a risk on some players just to get them to sign

Don't forget the teams who have very selective medicals. Like Demba Ba failing his medical at Stoke, while Jonathan Woodgate passed with no problems.
