Perch Ban Reduced On Appeal

Newcastle United have successfully had defender James Perch's 3 match ban reduced on appea,l to a single game. The 25 year old was sent off for violent conduct in a reserve game against Manchester United earlier this week and was expected to miss the three away games after the Wolves match. He will now just miss the Villa game.

Assistant Coach Peter Beardsley refused to comment on the sending off directly after the game, but manager Alan Pardew who will also have Cheik Tiote suspended for the Aston Villa game has given the following interview to The Chronicle;

"James was a little bit unlucky in some respects.

The young Manchester United player went up to him and kicked him. He was obviously sent off. James just grabbed him, and asked 'What are you doing, son?'.

He ended up being sent off. I thought the referee overreacted to it. I just wanted to give him a game."

Good news if we need him, but he needs to learn as at the start of the season was picking up bookings for fun

I don't know about the red in the reserve game but I think he's just off the pace (at fullback anyway) in the PL.

He is off the pace and maybe somebody we can look to ship out in the summer, but the money we paid then we wasn't really a gamble for us, think it was a million and we certainly need a better back up at right back
