Midfielder Cheik Tiote returns to action against Arsenal today after serving a three match ban. Fans cursed when manager Alan Pardew brough Tiote on against Stevenage in the FA Cup knowing that the 24 year old would miss the Tyne-Wear derby the following Sunday, should he get booked or sent off. True to form Tiote played well but got sent off, leading to a three match ban.
However, Tiote, who is expetced to go straight back into the starting eleven, has said he has no intention of changing his commitment to the game and still intends to win every ball.
He told The Chronicle;
Tiote has 9 yellow cards to his domestic tally (8 Premier League, 1 Carling Cup), meaning a yellow card today will once again see him miss the next two games against Birmingham and Blackburn, both away from home.
