Newcastle United travel to Stevenage’s Lamex Stadium for tomorrow’s 3rd round FA Cup game in a late kick off which is televised on ESPN. Manager Alan Pardew has indicated that he is taking the competition seriously and that whilst he has a huge injury list to contend with, his players will be seeking a win.

League Two Manager Graham Westley has the fans on his back for a shock win against a side 72 places higher than them in the Leagues.

Pardew is short on strikers as Leon Best struggles with a heel injury after scoring his hatrick in midweek and Shola Ameobi (ankle) and Andy Carroll (thigh) are both absent. Other injuries include, Alan Smith (knee), Sol Campbell (leg), Dan Gosling (knee), Ryan Taylor (ankle) and Hatem Ben Arfa (broken leg), whilst both Steven Taylor (hamstring) and Cheik Tiote (hamstring) are both doubts.

Steve Harper is also unavailable as he takes leave to be at home with his heavily pregnant wife.

Stevenage will be without Darius Charles (suspension) and Bryon Harrison who is cup tied, they could also be missing striker Peter Winn who will have a late fitness check. However, Westley will welcome the return of Joe Byrom, Darren Murphy and Lee Boylan who all return from injury.

Fact: These two teams last met in 1998 when Stevenage Borough (now just Stevenage) held Newcastle to a draw at Broadhall Way (now the Lamex Stadium), before losing out in the replay at St James’ Park courtesy of Alan Shearer.

Fact: Newcastle have been eliminated from the FA Cup in the 3^rd round, twice in the last four seasons.

bad first half, not one player can control the ball properly smith is terrible hes done nowt and got ususal yellow card,,bring off him and fetch young fergie on and take best off and put ranger on and attack stevenage

Not watching it but I find... f00k, 1-0 to them....it a bit wierd to start with two right footed players down the left. Either Ferguson/Kadar could play left FB or Ferguson/Loven left wing. Barton could have been rested or played on the right with Routledge on the left.

Nolan has played a lot this season and with Smith behind him just makes us very slow in the middle. Heard that Smith tackled a player on the half way line to get his booking...what a f00king tool.

Just lost the picture on setanta... probably a good thing at this point... midfield is useless... we have no width and no control... Get Smith off and Ferguson on and play Barton/Nolan central... or something...as this isnt working

Nooooooo, dont risk Tiote you f00king tw4t. Guthrie is on the bench and if we go out then so be it. This first half shows how important Tiote is to us so if his hamstring goes again then we are f00ked for Sunderland and Spurs.

There's two hours of my life I won't get back.

Pardew's got to answer for that selection and the moronic decision to bring on Tiote when the game was clearly gone. Especially considering what came before that showed how much we hurt when Tiote isn't in the team.

Watched the match and it was a f@cking disgrace, the lads were not up for it, and we have said it before play the kids, instead we have a player now serving a red card, and the team we fielded should have won this easy. Instead they were last for every ball, and there are no excuses.

I can't see how you can be motivated for this game when you play premiership football every week, and now you are playing against a lot lower league team, this game had fringe players and kids all over it.

They were the better side and deserved to win, but god the game was boring. How many times did we go long ball, we got nothing so why keep trying it

hadnt seen the last two posts on this thread. just started a new un about the appeal, which i think will fail but should be made just in case.
