I know Everton have somehow messed up his contract technically making him a free transfer but surely they can rectify it!

Do they want him to go?

From what Ive seen of the lad he is very tidy and on a free would be class. Sure a few clubs will look at him.

Just looked at the story and if true its a bit of a worry. Basically his cu.nt of an agent and himself has whelched on a verbal agreement and think that 15k a week is not good enough. I think for a 20 year old sub player that is plenty but suppose its how the modern game works. Who knows, maybe Everton have been a bit ars.ey on the subject.

Get him if we can.

He's left already I think, he would be a fantastic signing, I'd be delighted if we got him.

Apparently he held talks with us yesterday. Here's a quote from the Daily Mail.

"Newcastle are confident they will land the talented midfielder following talks yesterday"

I don't know how accurate the Daily Mail's articles are usually but I sincerely hope they are right and that talks went well. These are the kids we should be pursuing if we want to be an established premier league team again.

The problem we may have, is he is after money, then the Hammers will give him more money than what we will. IT depends on what sort of lad he is, does he want money and not bothered about the future, if so then the Hammers is a good move for him and if that is the case I wouldn't want him. If he wants to play football and be a first team player in the near future then we are the club and I will say it again then it is a yes

He fills that niche role in the midfield that every team needs (the cuntish, slow midfielder). We need some more depth in that role anyway. Right now we only have Barton, Smith, Guthrie, and Nolan to be the cuntish, slow midfielder.

Nufc.com are now saying that we've definately made a written offer to his representatives and it is now under consideration. Fingers crossed he'll make the right choice and sign for us!

I think money is an issue like with all players but I feel two more bigger factors.

1. He wants to be closer or getting first team football and staying at Everton that will be tough to get.

2. He was only offered a two year deal from reports and maybe thought that a longer deal was slightly more earned.

I think he might be getting a rough ride with the way he has left the club. Im reserving judgment until it comes out from all parties.

Wonder what our offer will be. Cant see it being more than 15-20k as he has only a handfull of games to his name. Hopefully it will be a longer contract on around 15k a week with increases if he comes back fully fit and holds down a first team place in the near future.

Hope it happens.

Everton never put a written offer in, that's their mistake. Maybe if they had put something in ink, he'd still be there despite not getting the wages he wanted. They didn't meet the deadline, they lose him.

Apparently due to his age he couldnt be offered anything more than 3 year deal.

How reliable is Mirror Football?!

Would be happy if true but this is the only story I've seen confirming it.

There may be something in it. I remember a bunch of players who left Boro (Schwarzer and Viduka and a couple others) saying they left because they felt disrespected by the club's lack of professionalism in contract negotiations.

I can see why you'd think that.

But no, it's that Boro were s.hit and they waited, literally, until the last couple months of the season to make an offer of a new contract in writing. Losing them is one thing, but those are two guys you'd ideally like to sell rather than see them leave on a free.

Read somewhere today that Gosling was in Ireland meeting the lads.

Its amazes me why the clubs leave it until last minute and then let a player go for nothing, you think even trying to sign them on a 1 year extension is better than nothing, and then flog them if you don't want them

Wish they'd hurry the @#$%& up with this deal.

I've been reading up on this deal and found that Everton have up until Friday to appeal and that's whats delaying the deal. Someone mentioned that we planning to announce the deal on Monday and that he was up with the lads in Ireland earlier in the week briefly.
