With Fabio Capello looking set to retain his position as England manager, what changes do you think the fiery Italian should/must make to assert the England team as a force to be reckoned with on the international stage? Does Capello need to wield his axe and chop certain players from future squads?

Arguably Frank Lampard is at the top of that list.

No-one can doubt the 32 year olds prowess for Chelsea week in week out in the Premier League, but he has produced well below par performances at both the 2006 and 2010 world cups.

Should the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard be permenantly replaced with players such as Matthew Upson and James Milner?

Should John Terry, Englands modern day Richard the Lionheart be re-instated as Captain? Or should Capello look for a new on-the-pitch leader?

Should Capello retain the services of the 39 year old veteran keeper David James or does he need to consider passing the baton to perhaps the young Joe Hart?

With a lack of goals in England's World Cup campaign perhaps it is time for Capello to turn to the Under 21 squad and see who he can call up for a senior team place as Englands Euro 2012 campaign begins in September, could Andy Carroll find himself as a strike option, alongside Crouch and Rooney for Hungary's friendly at Wembley in August?

i can't believe he took Lennon and Wright Phillips, I mean just in case one player with pace and no crossing ability got injured he'd have a back up?

As dumb as this sounds, Carroll would have been more effective than Heskey, so could I.

Heskey was, if I recall rightly, actually brought back into the international fold on the request of Michael Owen.
Owen claimed that he (Owen) played better when Heskey was on the field.
Well Owen is gone now and Heskey is still a couple of goals short of Gary Linekers tally

Why keep Heskey now?

I stand by what I said in my original article that Lampard should be the first to go though

Plenty need to go, Lampard, Terry, Heskey, Ferninand to start with for the first team. Add SWP, Lennon, Upson, Green, King, Carragher and Carrack atleast. James is too old

I don't think playing the kids is the worst thing. It gets competition into the team, adds more passion and drive and players wanting to be the best instead of thinking they are the best. It also caps players which mean they can't play for anybody else, so when they improve it can only help England

The title must be rhetorical...England looked tired and cynical. Now Capello talks about quality young players and getting them into the squad. Well, duh! If he had take Shawcross, M. Johnson and Walcott and/or just used Hart, how much worse could it have gone? At least those kids would have experience on the biggest stage.

Hate to say it, but I think Capello's management is as much the problem as anything. When the chips are down, he becomes a stereotypical Italian manager, choosing the "most experienced" squad possible and playing for 1-0 results based on moments of individual brilliance.
