Newcastle United face Sheffield Wednesday in tomorrow's mid-week Championship game. Newcastle host The Owls on the back of a 3-0 home win against Reading and a draw from the first day of the season, whilst Sheffield Wednesday travel on the back of two consecutive draws.
Newcastle's Steven Taylor will be included in the team, despite rumours of an imminent departure, but they will be without winger Damien Duff who moved to Fulham earlier today. Joey Barton is a doubt to start despite returning to training today after picking up an injury to his foot at the weekend, but new loan signing Danny Simpson could make his debut after missing out at the weekend.
Danny Guthrie returns to the fold after recovering from a hamstring injury which caused him to miss the opening two games but Chris Hughton who takes charge whilst takeover talk overshadows the club is still without Nicky Butt (hand) who is yet to play this season.
For Sheffield Wednesday, Francis Jeffers is due to return after recovering from a knock, but manager Brian Laws will be without strikers Leon Clarke (hamstring) and Akpo Sodje (groin).

Fact: - A win for Sheffield Wednesday will be their 2nd victory at St James' Park in 20 years.

BTW is it on TV ? had a quick look throught te schedule and couldnt find it ? Strange it being on a wednesday night and not on tv.
Also I reckon goals from Nolan, S Taylor and ameobi.

No not on TV at all.
There is a Premier League fixture list also so we wouldnt be considered ahead of that. Although I dont think any of those are on as there is coverage of the Champions League games

2-1 to us, I wouldn't make any changes to the starting 11 unless Barton isn't fit enough after his knock.
If you are seriouslybacking Smith to score I would put a bet on..... the odds must be brilliant.
Sheff. Wednesday hasn't played well yet this year, drawing with two of the weaker teams in the division (Petersborough and Barnsley). I think we should win this 2-0 or 3-1 considering it's a home game.
Hopefully Barton can start, as I'm not sure whether or not Jonas will play with the transfer bid being placed.

A 10 quid bet on hat trick is such a tempting offer though. Might have to wait on that one until we play Barnsley or Scurnthorpe.

its simpson in for barton, so that should mean taylor moving to wide right i reckon. unchanged apart from that

Whatever Chris and Colin are putting in Shola's Wheaties on match day morning, they best not stop. Anyone got a video highlight of the goal? Sky sports said it was a great flick on from Carroll.
Also, I love the strategy of Xisco on for Carroll even with the lead these last two games. Shows they want goals, and it's bringing more pace on the field.

When you look at the mess of the club, it has been fairly quite by the players, where normal seasons all somebody has to do is f@rt out of place and it totally kicks off, Chris and Colin have done a bloody good job.
