Club Confirm Moat Talks As Ashley Flies In

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has arrived in Newcastle within the last hour by private helicopter to hold talks with prospective buyer Barry Moat, after the club's managing director Derek Llambias confirmed talks had begun.

Speculation increased at the weekend when the national media suggested that Moat would not be able to meet Ashley's £100million demands for the club; however it looks like things have progressed ahead of tomorrow's midweek match against Sheffield Wednesday.

Moat is yet to officially confirm his interest in the club but he did show his face at the weekend when Newcastle beat Reading 3-0 in their first home game of the season, where he sat laughing and joking with Mike Ashley.
