Barton To Be Assessed Further Over Foot Injury

By Tyne-Talk

Newcastle United's caretaker manager Chris Hughton is hopeful that the injury which saw Joey Barton go off yesterday, just 3 and a half minutes after being handed the Captains armband by team-mate Alan Smith, is not as serious as first thought. Initial concerns were due to the injury being sustained on the same foot he broke at the beginning of the year which kept him sidelined for three months.

Hughton told the club's official website;

"Joey got a whack on his foot. He was certainly a lot happier after the match than he was when he came off the pitch.

We're hoping that's just going to be a kick and we will assess it further on Sunday."

I cant see many clubs falling over themselves to get Bartons signature.
Keep him becaus edespite his faults he's a committed player who always gives 100%

Clubs will be interested in getting him, once we get to the last couple of days loads will be sniffing around. Even though he is totally committed his wages would mean he would go and has to go, plus you would have to weigh up how many games he will play, Barton still looks like he is going to miss games through suspension.
If the takeover does go through and we get Shearer, then he will sell him anyway

I don't think he would start, if Shearer does come in then you would imagine he will only take the job if money is available, Shearer will still have players who are interested in signing for us.
If Shearer does come in then it is best Barton is sold, because sooner or later there will be problems again, for once I would just like the game to be discussed from the journalists, instead of them reporting more problems at the club

I think Shearer's just the sort of hardass that will play him if he's his best option,keeps his head down in training and keeps his mouth shut.

Now those are some giant IFs...

If Shearer comes and a offer comes in, then he will be off. But Shearer will put the toon first, if Barton is the best option then he will play him, I fully agree Tunyc, Shearer will make him work for it. I just don't think there relationship will work

See, if Shearer comes in, I can see him saying, "You're a championship player now, boy. Anything short of a broken leg and you're ass is going right back out there next week."
